Practise 16 Mark Question

Evaluate the effectiveness of using a storyboard within the pre-production and planning process of a media product.

A storyboard is a useful way to plan a production by showing the progression of a narrative within the media product so all of the other members of the team can develop their areas based on it.

A storyboard is a very effective way of planning a production as it provides key information about the scene such as action, the location of the scene and any actors used for the Raven promotional video. This is helpful as it means that the camera operators and lighting operators can figure out what the shot will look like and which resources they will need so logistics can be organised.

However, a storyboard is less effective as it is not useful for all members of the production team and other documents such as scripts will be needed in order to show the actors the exact details of the scene.

On the other hand, a storyboard can be a very effective way of planning a media product as it can be used to demonstrate the camera angles to the camera operator helping them to organise which resources will be needed and the whole logistics of the shoot. This would also help them to know what they need to film and to create a set plan if necessary. This would also help the director as they can use he storyboard to organise all of the actors to make sure the Raven promotional video is filmed as quick as possible to see the deadline at the end of July.

In contrast to this, a storyboard is not as effective when sud by itself as it does not take into account any health and safety risks that may occur when filming the promotional video so they will not be controlled enough to protect
