Site Maps

LO4 - Create and evaluate pre-production documents for a new media product. Site Maps Site maps are used to show the layout of how pages fit together on the screen. Site maps show a hierarchy of how each aspect of the webpage fit together in a tree root diagram. The homepage is represented as a trunk with the other pages coming off as webpages. Set Design

LO4 - Create and evaluate pre-production documents for a new media product. Set Design Set design is when documents are created to set out a scene for a TV or film set. These are either created in 2D to show the layout of any props in the set or in 3Ds o the view the cameras will be seen will been understood. These help to show the team how the shot will look and plan camera movements. The also show the production team what props must be built for the production. Examples of Set Design

Page Mock-Ups

Page Mock-Ups Page mock-ups are very similar to wireframes/flatplans except they include more detail such as content and colour used. They are used to gain feedback from clients and audiences before the final product is finished. Page mock-ups are used when creating interactive webpages and media products and are beginning to blend into prototypes in terms of their features due to new software. Examples of Page Mock-Ups

Prototypes

Prototypes Prototypes are early models of a media product that are especially important in interactive products where the final production will take a lot of time and resources. Prototypes allow for a testing of the concept in order to find out if the final product will meet it's needs. Prototypes do not look like the final product but include the key elements to be tested. Flatplan/Wireframes

Flatplans/Wireframes A wireframe is a 2D representation showing how articles or adverts are laid out on the page and how they all fit together. This shows the designer if the proportions are correct and allows for changes to be made before the production is created. Flatplans can also be used to show the layout of a set for a TV production to check that camera movements can be carried out. Examples of Flatplans

Concept Art and Visualisation Diagrams

LO4 - Create and evaluate pre-production documents for a new media product. Concept Art Concept art is used to convey an idea during the planning stage in a media production. Some examples of this are illustrations for computer games and 3D digital models of a new project. This allows for decisions to be made and to make changes before the media product is created. Scripts and Shooting Scripts

It also shows the location of the scene along with the setting. It shows the character names along with dialogue and details about a character's speech in brackets. Risk Assessment

LO4 - Create and evaluate pre-production documents for a new media product. A risk assessment is the pre-production visit to a location before filming can begin. This allows any issues with camera angles, lighting and acoustic details to be checked out. Health and safety considerations can also be acknowledged in order to assess the viability of a location. During a risk assessment, photographs can be taken in order to save time for the actual shoot. The risk assessment also looks at the accessibility allowing logistics to begin. Asset Logs

These can be used to check for any legal issues that could possibly arise such as copyright.
