Client Briefs

LO2 - Be able to interpret client requirements and target audience consideration

Types of Client Briefs
Contractural Brief -A contractural brief is a type of brief where a media company is employed to create a media product within specific guidelines set by the client.

Negotiated Brief - A negotiated brief isa brief where if the media company have a problem with the original brief set, they will negotiate it with the client and come to a compromise on the brief.

Informal Brief - An informal brief is brief discussed in a meeting or telephone call with the client rather than being written out in the form of a contract.

Tender Brief - A tender brief is when a client advertises that they want a media product to be made so media company's create a brief, proposal and budget to pitch to the client.

Formal Brief - A formal brief is a written document which includes everything the client wants the media company to produce. It is straightforward and includes every detail of what the media company wants.

Interpreting a Client Brief

LO2 - Be able to interpret client requirements and target audience considerations. Interpreting the client breif carefully is important because: - the end product must be what the customer wants to create more sales. - everyone on the production team must be working towards the same goal with the same understanding of the project. - wasting time and resources must be avoided. Types of Requirements: Implicit - These are inferred from the brief. The brief must be interpreted from this. Open - There is freedom for decisions to be made to fit the client brief. Constraints - These are boundaries that the project must remain in (ethical, budget). Explicit - These are clearly stated in the brief for the product.
