Children's Shoes Brief - Legal and Ethical

LO1 - Understand the factors that need to be considered during the planning of a media product.

Legal + Ethical Issues

  • Consent from the actor's parents must be gained in order for them to legally take part in the advert. This will be done by making sure one or both of the parents of each child actor in the Knight-Higgs shoes advert has read, in full, the terms and conditions within the advert and have given their permission for their child to act in the advert (as the children are too young to give consent for themselves).
  • Another ethical issue that must be considered within the advert is diversity within the actors to show that the brand and the advert is inclusive. To address this ethical issue, the advert will make sure that all of the child actor's hired are different genders and from different ethnic background to make sure that no ethnicity that may be watching the advert feels left out or that the shoes are not meant for them.
  • Another legal issue that must be considered is the copyright for any music used in the advert so that the original creators of the music cannot sue. They must be properly payed for the use of their music so that it can be shown within the advert on the website.
  • Another legal issue that must be taken care of is libel. The website built for Knight-Higgs shoes must not have any slander towards any other brands which might lead to a lawsuit.
