Children's Shoes Brief - Staff

LO1 - Understand the factors that need to be considered during the planning of a media product.


Director

A director must be able to lead an entire crew and organise them into creating the advert correct to his vision. A director must also have some background within the arts in order to be able to envision a media product. Directors must have good communication skills and be able to work under high-stress environments, quickly thinking of decisions incase of anything going wrong. A director must be assertive in order to co-oridnate everyone they work with but willing to share and create ideas within the entire team.


Editor

Editors must be able to communicate well with the director in order to make sure the final media product is how the director envisioned it and has made the most out of the original script. While an editor must be able to use editing programs such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premier, editors must also have a keen visual and artistic eye in order to make sure the tone, colours, rhythm and pace of the final media product is all suited to the style of the piece. An editor must also have a very detailed eye towards the media product in order to make sure everything is perfect.


Camera Operator

A camera operator/cinematographer must have detailed knowledge of how to work industry style cameras and all of the functions to make sure a media product is as professional as possible. Along with this, a camera operator must also be very organised so that the shots filmed are the correct ones in the correct location. Camera operators must work well in high-stress condiotns and be able to make decisions quickly and efficiently. They must also have good communication skills and work closely with the grips and the gaffer so that the lighting and colours in the shot is correct and that the crew have all of the right equipment.


Web Designer

A web designer must have detailed knowledge of code and HTML in order to be able to create the website to high standards. They must have good communication skills to work lousy with the company and any creative designers to make sure that the website is exactly what they want and fits the company's branding effectively. They must have an artistic eye and pay close attention to colour and detail so that the style and every aspect of the website built is perfect.


Light + Sound Operator

A Gaffer (light operator) must work closely with the cinematographer in order to make sure the lighting and overall atmosphere within the shot is correct to the style and content of the media product. They must have a detailed knowledge of electricity and circuits in case of any faults while having an artistic eye to make sure the media product has the correct overall feel and look. Along with this, they must also be very organised to make sure any crew is in the correct place and that they are remaining in budget.

A sound mixer is responsible for recording any audio and creating sound effects. Detailed knowledge of the technical side of recording sound is necessary as they must be able to correctly and efficiently operate the recording equipment. They must also have good communcaition skills and a great attention to detail in order to make sure that the correct sound is recorded and is what the director wanted to achieve. They must be able to concentrate on the sounds even in a noisy environment so that the correct audio is recorded.


Costume Designers

A costume designer is responsible for all of the carefully chosen outfits within the production. Costume designers must have an understanding of costume history throughout the ages in order to take inspiration from them. Costume designers must also have good communication skills in order to share the vision of the final outfits with both the director and any other costume designers. They must have a keen artistic eye and an understanding of how colour palettes show a story. Detailed knowledge of how to make different garments is essential.

Children's Shoes Brief - Target Audience

LO2 - Be able to interpret client requirements and target audience considerations. Audience for the Children's Shoes Age: The target age for the children's shoes advert will be both 8-14 as that is the age range specified in the brief that the shoes are aimed towards. The target audience will also be ages in generation X as they may be existing companies of the Knight-Higgs brand or parents (or even grandparents) of an 8-14 year old who might want the shoes to be bought for them. It is important to make sure the advert appeals to both of these age ranges so that not only do the children want them, the adult also think to purchase them.
